Portrait Background

Interesting take on putting the puzzle into piratical life. I think I agree with Azei.. the yellows seem almost incandescent.

Looking at it again after your comment though Aze, perhaps the yellow is a little too bright, but I otherwise think it's amazing!

no idea me should try make a background anymore... Ill loose against that and I got like a curse I cant finish my portraits....

Ace, it's definitely a winner... but I would still correct the green stain, possibly replacing it with the pile of coins you can see at the feet of the totem in the shoppe.

Definitely coins. I would even add a bit more.

Last amendments you could make if you want to make a masterpiece: a stone tiles texture on the ground and a wooden texture on the wall. Or maybe just to vary a bit the brownness of the wall, you could add a poster with alchemical symbols (this site has lots). Here you could even download a font with some of them.
They are not necessary, but it would really nail it.
