I know what Pirates hate.
Pirates hate palindromes.
In fact that's the name of the flag ruling Admiral Island. I think I might be on to something.

True, but you are 20 hours late, as Blackseagull already pointed that out.Piratus wrote:I know what Pirates hate.

As for the date and time, what do you think? 11th of November first comes to mind, but it seems quite weird to me sending a message in such a long advance. I hope we are not going to miss the chance of meeting this guy and cast some light on the Oyster mystery.

I think noon time on Halloween and on All Saints Day(hedge my bet) I will be sipping a rumski in the Inn on Admiral....why you may ask I choose this time to enjoy my libation....well...I questioned the spelling of the word dispised in the message from "a friend"... it's not a real word....and the hint of the 11th day of the 11th month made me think Halloween and All Saints Day... and they be 1 day apart O-O ..1111...does this make any sense...

Re: Hic sunt dracones
Maybe our friend is just a little illitterate and actually meant "despised". >.<mmiimmii wrote:I questioned the spelling of the word dispised in the message from "a friend"... it's not a real word....

Next palindrome date of this year is November 1st

Remember, remember. The 5th of november. (not a palindrome, but kinda catchy xD)

Re: Hic sunt dracones
True, but I am still uncertain about this being the solution. Just take a look at how he wrote the date in his message... maybe if he wanted to hint at a palindrome date, he would have written it like 27.10.Benke wrote:Next palindrome date of this year is November 1st
Well, the only way of finding it out is being at the inn on November the 1st and hope that's what he meant.

I'll put forward the 9th of November.. (09.11.09).. as the next despised date of the year. Quite some time away, however.

Dear mates, I have important news to share with you!
Today was the day! Don't ask me how or why lol but since my guess was the same as Benke's, I was really puzzled and had no clues about what it could be.... I went to the inn today at noon just in case!
Outside the inn at Admiral I saw Azarbad, who was walking around looking for our friend I guess... and then I saw a mysterious guy called "Sneakyarab" which I thought was reaaaaally suspicious... I approached him and he was very rude, which confirmed my suspicions about him being Azarbad's goon...
I kept looking around until I saw a guy wearing a masked bandana hiding behind a corner, his name caught my attention... Zurga! (as in the pearl fishers!) and he had an enormous pearl displayed as his trinket... tooooo much coincidence! so I talked to him and after trying to confirm his identity, I told him I believed he had sent a letter to my King... he said that he didn't have much time because Azarbad was after him... he gave me the "enormous pearl"! and told me to keep it safe for him... and that we should receive news from who we were looking for soon!
I challenged the sneaky arab guy to SF to let our friend escape without being noticed and he went away...
Woot! such an adventure! we shall receive news soon!

Nice job, Blackseagull! I'm looking forward to receving soon news from or about Tiram's father!
By the way, Shiraz just told me that October the 30th is the 303rd day of the year. I guess that's was the palindrome we were looking for, but you guys have been great anyway and I'm going to assign 5 to Benke as well for proposing November the 1st as a possible palindrome.
Oh, and a warm welcome to the forums to Sparkywolf!

Re: Hic sunt dracones
Palindrome is word or sentence that can be read the same way in either direction. Examples are "Hannah" and "Was it a rat I saw". During research I found that there are words, phrases, numbers and even dates that can represents palindromes. More about subject at Wikipedia

I don't think it's because of your English, since the Portuguese word is almost the same: palíndromo.

Woo! More hints. The first island that comes to mind for the Silk Road would be Kashgar. So.. 20 leagues exactly from Kash gives us potentially Bryher or Halley.. but up to? That opens a lot more up.

Oh, indeed! The mentioned island must certainly be Kashgar.
Anyway, I can swear I have already seen that page before. If only I could remember where...

No more than 20 leagues south is Starfish island in Pelican Archipelago. Both starfish and pelicans eat oysters but there's nothing on Starfish island
