Bilge battle
Bilge Battle
1. The first player posts a screenshot of a bilging board displaying a sparkling bilge pump. He receives as many points as the number of filled stars.
2. The next player has make a combo posting his moves in the following format:
F2-E2!
OR
B9-C9; C9-D9; B10-C10; C10-D10!
where ! is for a combo.
The maximum number of moves allowed is 7, but the fewer the moves, the highest the score.
In fact the score formula is the following:
3^c-(m*3)+x/2+d
where: c = number of columns/rows cleared; m = moves made; x = extra pieces; d=depth of the water of a cleared crab (if any). See the Score table below.
The points obtained are subtracted to the previous poster's score and added to the poster's.
4. Pieces moved or involved in a combo can't be used by the next posters. The board is static though, so even if pieces at the top of the board are cleared, the bottom is not supposed to change.
5. A poster can "play the Jellyfish". Doing that, he receives 0,5 points. Once the Jellyfish is played the next player has to post a new board.
The points assigned posting a new board are not subtracted to the poster who previously played the Jellyfish, nor those 0,5 points are subtracted to the player who posted before the Jellyfish was played.
6. The Jellyfish can't be played:
a. right after a new board has been posted;
b. twice in a row by the same player;
c. three times in total by the same player.
7. A new board can't be posted more than 3 times by the same player.
8. Puffer fishes (if any) must be considered as blocks.
9. Two turns (posts) must pass before being allowed to post again.
10. End of the game. The game ends on Saturday 28 or when all the players have posted 3 times a new board.

Re: Bilge battle
i dont know if i get it... but i saw a bingo (3x3x4)there! lol
B4-C4, B6-C6, C6-D6, B7-C7, D7-E7, C5-D5
(i saw that when i was doing this bingo i made a 3x1 too... what happen? should i use another move to avoid that? i won more points? dont happen anything??)
there is any difference between a bingo 3x3x3 or a 3x4x3? or a 3x4x4? if not i can use one only 5 movements (i use 6 in the last post to make a bigger bingo... in pp that will make more points... but i dont see any difference in your score table...)
if have no difference.. pls get this moves: B6-C6, C6-D6, B7-C7, D7-E7, C5-D5

Re: Bilge battle
The only difference between a 3x3x3 bingo and a 3x3x4 is that you get 0,5 for each extra piece in the combo... considering that an additional move costs you a lot more, it is not worthwhile. Anyway you are supposed to post a bilging board to start the game, that was just an example to show the coordinates. >.<

Re: Bilge battle
Ok, I'm going to give it a go.
If I was playing, this were 5,5 points for me (level of stars with sparkling pump).
Now it's your turn to post combos.

You can either post another set of moves or play the Jellyfish... that means the next player will have to post a new board.Leoric wrote:so since the directions dont say what to do.... what do we do now

Temporary score
Azeitona: 13 pts.
Mmiimmii: 0,5 pts. (1 jellyfish played)
Now someone has to post a new board with a sparkling pump and possibly a high number of filled stars.

bingo! bingo!
lol I took several screenshots in a row, each with diffiult brain teasing boards... and promptly forgot to save the screen shots, so here's the last (and easiest) one

Re: Bilge battle

C5-D5, B7-C7, E5-F5, B5-C5
(this one really took me some time... i wanted to do the bingo to the other side... would be a bigger one, but with 8 moves...)

Temporary score
Azeitona: 18 pts.
Leoric: 1
Mmiimmii: 0,5 pts. (1 jellyfish played)
Biccoc: -8 pts. (1 board posted)
Mmm... the score got a little bit screwed since it was the first time we played the game and one needs time to find out what the winning strategy is.
How about starting over with a few tweaks?

Re: Bilge battle
One alteration I might suggest is that every person who posts the moves for a combo then has to post the next board...that way there is not a negative connotation to someone postng a board...
I posted that board (knowing full well there were 2 easy bingos available) to get people going with the game, but I had no incentive pointwise as the bingoes would automatically overide the 8 little points for posting. Since we WANT people to post boards this wouldnt bode well as the clever people wouldnt bother.
The alternative would be people deliberately making board you couldnt get any combos in less than the amount of moves to cause the next poster negative points...this is the only way I see the person taking the time to make the picture profiting, and wouldnt make the game any fun as nobody would post answers that got them into negative points...do you see?
so Id propose the alterations, either
1) anyone posting a move then has to post the next board so they are forced to get a downside to their profit from the person before or secondly (and preferably)
2)
i) no negative points for the posters of the boards, to encourage the production of boards useful to the game
ii) at least increase the amount of points for posting so that they arent likely to automatically end up in minus figures

Aye, I agree with your suggestions. Any other ideas on how to improve it?

Re: Bilge battle
Horrible idea to force the posters of moves to have to post a board next. Since i posted one it would be me and i never get sparkly bilge so the game would then be halted for a very long time

Re: Bilge battle
i agree when biccoc says that we should not take the points from who post a board...
and agree with leo... i dont think that we need to post a board after post a move...

Re: Bilge battle
Mumble, mumble...
Ok, we will cerainly increase the points for posting.
The sparkling pump issue could be fixed assigning a multiplier for the colour of the pump... so let's say brown pump = stars*1, yellow pump = stars*2 and sparkling pump = stars*3.
Now the maximum level of stars would override the highest score one can achieve. But we still have to adjust those points. I would suggest either:
a. +5-10 for any post (so that a 3x1 in 2 moves still gives a positive score) or;
b. +s for any post, where s is the level of stars of the board where one plays.
Let's try to see what would have happened on Biccoc's board:
1. Biccoc gets 8*3 = 24 pts.
2. Aze gets a bingo in 4 moves = 16 pts., that becomes 16+5-10 in the first case, 16+8 in the second case.
There could be another solution. The poster of the board receives all the points made on said board.
So Biccoc gets 8 (or 24, if we add the multiplier) points for that board plus Azeitona's, plus Leoric's and so on. This would encourage people posting boards, but we have to find a way of penalizing the board poster as well.
