Rules

Only people on the training list who have correctly completed the first assignment before Saturday 17 can participate.
People who weren't on the list (Renowned+ sailing) can participate too, but they won't be eligible for prizes.

Each mini-contest assigns points depending on people's participation. The bigger the number of participants, the higher the points up for grabs. Score will be calculated with the following formula: (N*2)-((R*2)-2).
N = number of participants*
R = rank
Example: third out of 10 participants = (10*2)-((3*2)-2) = 16 pts.
* including people non-eligible for prizes.

Prizes
To be announced before Saturday 10
Prizes will be awarded only to the overall winners at the end of the festival.

In a few hours the Sailing Festival is officially going to start... in fact I've booched the calendar! I wrote 17 but I was thinking of today!

Prizes

There are going to be two categories of prizes: the ones awarded only to the participants of the sailing programme and one up for grabs to (almost) anyone.

Prizes for trainees

Trainees eligible for prizes: Electrojacks, Fatuzza, Jimmybucs, Mmiimmii*, Ortyka, Piraatmaaike, Safebet, Scrondo, Tigerdoll*.

* under the condition of posting a bingo before the end of the Festival.

1st prize: a golden medal and 6/10 of the jackpot
2nd prize: a silver medal and 3/10 of the jackpot
3rd prize: a bronze medal and 1/10 of the jackpot

The jackpot
The jackpot is a fund open to donations from Sailmasters of the Knights of Saint George.
It currently amounts to 10.000 PoE.

Prizes for Renowned+ sailors

A flying carpet and 25

About the flaying carpet. At a first glance it looks like a common Exotic carpet... BUT! rumors say it really can fly and it will be an essential item in the next mission! It can only be driven by people who know how to master the winds, that's why one needs to be at least Renowned in sailing.

VERY IMPORTANT: in order claim the prize, the overall winner must be ccean-wide Renowned in Sailing at the end of the Festival.

Unfortunately all of them have not been much active druing these two weeks and they might have missed the announcement. This is just a warning. I will try to talk to them and involve them in the next programmes, but like I said several warnings may eventually result in a demotion.

1. The use of main characters is strictly forbidden. Your entry won't be valid if you use your main character. You MUST use an alt.
2. The screenshot you take must include your alt working on the sailing station in the right side of the screen or with his/her name on the title bar of your puzzle pirate client.
3. Your alt must be either unequivocally recognizable as an alt of yours or verified as such.

Score

Every ring of chain scores as 2 points.
For every platform involved you get 1 additional point.
No additional points for double clears.

Final Competition

The forth competition is all about stats and ranking. The mechanism is a bit complex, but you don't have to calculate anything: just do your best in order to improve your stats and prevail over your competitiors. All those who entered at least one competition are automatically signed in and I will keep track of their progress.

How good are you?
A. Starting score
Each entrant receives a starting score based on his/her ranking comparing his/her ocean-wide standings to the other ones' according to the Sailing Festival formula.

Can you improve your standings?
B. Improving score
At the end of the week entrants' ocean-wide standings will be checked again. Each improvement will be awarded as it follows:
Distinguished to Respected: 1 pt.
Respected to Master: 1 pts.
Master to Renowned: 2 pts.
Renowned to Grand-Master: 3 pts.
Grand-Master to Legendary: 5 pts.
Legendary to Ultimate: 8 pts.
Ultimate: each position earned within the Ultimate rankings awards 0,2 pts. Positions lost don't count as negative.
Dropping in standings will result in the equivalent negative score (i.e. Master to Respected = -1 pts.).
A new ranking will be calculated according on the score so obtained.

Can you do better than the others?
C. Climbing score
At the end of the week entrants' ocean-wide standings will be checked again, listing them in a new ranking. Each position earned within the ranking will award 1 point, each position lost will award -1 point.
A new ranking will be calculated according on the score so obtained.

D. Final score
The sum of A, B and C.

Dormancy
If an entrant is dormant on January, 31 he/she will be disqualified from this contest and will be listed at the bottom of the ranking.

Instant victory
Even if it's very unlikely, should someone get the #1 trophy during this week, he/she would be instantly declared winner of the contest and of the festival.

Note that starting with a low score is an opportunity rather than a penality, since low-rank entrants can earn much more points with B and C scores if they really work hard.

Like I stated in the first post, please don't start calculating how many points your should get in order to win, cause it all depends of what you do comparing to the others as well. The system is very complex. JUST SAIL AND DO YOUR BEST TRYING TO BUILD UP YOUR STATS.

This is what happened after one day, with a few changes. I expect the final results to be a bit more dynamic, although if nobody bothers they will most likely reflect the status quo ante.
Anyway, don't expect big twistings in the final outcome of the Festival, since this is already the 4th event. Nonetheless it's still very uncertain who will ultimately get the carpet as well as the golden golden medal!

The Sailing Festival is almost over! Today is the last day to improve your standings!

The Sailing Festival is closed, thank you all for participating.

A few considerations. It was a great success, considering that during the Festival:

1. Azeitona, Scrondo, Fatuzza, Safebet, Ortyka and Piraatmaaike improved their standings;
2. Scrondo (but Ortyka as well, although she went down yesterday) achieved the Renowned standing in sailing;
3. Blackseagull went up to #3, scoring her personal record;
4. Mmiimmii made her first bingo;
5. Skinyminy won a parrot in a sailing competition;
6. Azeitona and Skinyminy were both among the top ten in the sailing competition yesterday.

I'm sure the list could continue and I really hope it will in the future. A big first step has been taken, now you know the direction I wish you could keep on walking this path.
I hope Azeitona won't give up attemping to achieve the Ultimate trophy and all those who went up to Master will make one more effort to reach Renowned.

Woooooooot! I think the sailing festival was a great success! It was so great to see everybody working hard to improve their standings, trying to make cascades, asking questions, asking for tips, trying to learn, getting involved! Wonderful! Wonderful!

I think everybody learned a lot about sailing during this festival, and I hope everybody will keep on working on their sailing now that the festival has ended. Everybody is welcome to keep on asking questions, tips or help in any way!

Congrats Jimmy, Maaike and Scrondo for winning those medals!! Well done!
