Re: Hoist the colours! - Q&A
And I quote...
4. Each sloop can't sail for more than 8 leagues a day (24 hrs) from the island where the last transaction with a building (trade/bid) was made. Place a bid on each inhabited island you visit. Bid tickets, except the one on Ashkleon Arch do not have to ever actually fill. So feel free to make the bid ticket for one PoE.
SO! I can use a cutter and sail unlimited leagues per day? How about if I swap stuff to a new sloop?
Just asking for clarification captain, and to close any loop holes before someone exploits them before me.
Very Respectfully,
Aldeberan

Re: Hoist the colours! - Q&A
So why 8 leagues i believe that makes it almost impossible. What if im sailing 8 leagues comes up and im in the middle of the damn ocean. What if islands are 3 leagues away then 6 leagues away are those 5 leagues left over wasted because the course you designed is for experts?

Re: Hoist the colours! - Q&A
You don't have to sail necessarily 8 leagues... you just can't sail MORE than 8 leagues a day. That means you can sail less. Each ship can't sail for more than 8 leagues a day
Example (on a different route).
Bowditch-Hinga-Wissahickon
Day X
On Bowditch you make a transaction (place a bid), then sail to Hinga. Being an uninhabited island you just stop there without buying anything. 6 leagues.
Day X+1
You sail from Hinga to Bowditch. 6 leagues. On Bowditch you place a bid that will be dated Day X + 1.

Re: Hoist the colours! - Q&A
Ortyka has asked a couple of interesting questions on the Italian forum. I'm translating them and posting them here for the the wider audience.
People might want to enter: either to let their colour win, not to let another one, or win the final prize.
There is no limit of the number of teammates. Obviously, the bigger a team is, the less the earnings (although it may take less time to cover the route), the higher the chances of being cheated.By how many member can a team be formed?

On the contrary. Since cheating is part of the game, I wouldn't want to let people know where I am, with whom I team, what colour I move.In my opinion it would be useful to post a list of teams and their members

Re: Hoist the colours! - Q&A
Is there any rules against moving ships more than 8 leagues as in setting them up for the next day. Not carrying any of the goods.
Leoric- Crew: : Freeboters Gangway
Re: Hoist the colours! - Q&A
No restrictions for that. Only the sloop carrying the goods has to comply with the 8 leagues rules.

Correct.Leoric wrote:We can use other types of ship correct.
Ortyka came out with another good question
I'll personally buy it when I'll be online. The winner will be determined from the last bid ticket bought (on Admiral Island).Ortyka wrote:to whom and when the cloth has to be delivered?

Re: Hoist the colours! - Q&A
Whole thing way to complicated for me. Be far better just to decide on a crew uniform and be done with it!

Re: Hoist the colours! - Q&A
I am sorry, this is very off-topic but I needed the date for when the Glimmer of Light changed its crew name to update the yppedia article. An OM told me the change was made on the 6/11/08. Or the 6th of November if I am reading it right.
But I remember this mission was done after the rename and the mission started in October. Swesvempa was the one who made the rename, and at that time Thewandererr was the captain.
Is this just me reading the date wrong, is it really the 11th of July? Or is the date wrong alltogether?

Thank you, I am used to the day/month/year format. Smallest first, largest last (P.S sorry for spamming)

Re: Hoist the colours! - Q&A
My records tell me The Wikings changed their name to Glimmer of Light on May 31, 2008 and I'm pretty sure about that since my logs show me that I took "a jobbing position with 'Glimmer of Light'" on June 2, 2008. OMs say bullshit, this is funny.
By the way, if you want more information about that, I can also tell you that the one who proposed the name was Redkarma, Larana's husband who at that time used to be a member of the crew.
I have just visited your page on Yppedia and I have noticed that in the first sentence Swesvempa already wrote that the name was changed on May 31. This is most certainly the right date, since is the one I recorded too. Why did you have the impression it was wrong?
Besides, I don't like what you wrote about Thewandererr, maybe you didn't realize that your words cast a bad light on him and I feel that it's a bit unfair since he was a gentleman after all. If you want I would be glad to help you writing the article: I know a lot about your history.
