For a long time, the King of Ascalon had been looking to find a solution for an age-old issue: building a strongbox for the Privy Purse. He wished that all subjects could be able to donate and check how much gold it contained, allowing only one to withdraw from it.

So he made an announcement, asking the craftsmen of the Realm to submit their projects. However no blacksmith was able to build such a thing.

One day a shipbuilder asked for an audience with the King.

- Sire, I've got the solution to Your Majesty's problem! I will build a sloop for You. Everyone will be able to see it and donate to Ascalon's cause, but with the helm locked so only the owner can have access to the hold.
- Excellent! That's a wonderful idea! What do you need to carry out the project?
- I would need a workshop... wood, iron, sail cloth... and some skilled workforce.
- Very well. Lord Acerin is going to open a shipyard stall for you on Kasidim Island. Go get all you need, the Crown will cover the cost of the goods. If your endeavour is successful, you will be appointed manager of the shipyard for the service rendered to the Crown!

The goal of the mission is building and renaming a sloop that will serve the purpose of working as a flag coffer.

From August 25 to the first days of September, the subjects of Ascalon are called upon to perform some actions in order to build such a sloop. Each action grants a score. The one who gets the higher score wins.
The mission can be played in teams of two.

Please post in this thread any question concerning the mission.
No answers will be provided in-game. Thanks for your understanding.

From Monday 25th to Friday 29th
Supply

Acerin's stall will buy:
  • 250 units of iron @ 10 PoE;
  • 375 units of sail cloth @ 16 PoE.
Entrants will get:
1 point for each commodity sold;
2 point for each PoE saved in the buying and selling process.
Please note that the stall won't buy more than 250 units of iron and 375 units of sail cloth, so points are assigned on a first come first served principle. Entrants might choose either to secure for themselves all the points available losing their own money (i.e. one could buy iron @ 14 PoE per units on Kasidim and sell it to the stall at less than cost price: he will get 250 pts. but will lose 3500 PoE in the transaction).
Before starting a trade run, please check if the stall still buy that commodity. If you have bought a commodity that the stall doesn't buy anymore, leave it on your ship and wait for the end of the contest since probably the new manager of the stall might be interested in buying your goods.
Finding ways and places to buy commodities at the best price it's up to entrants, so please don't ask.

Saturday August 30th
Shipwrightery Bakeoff (free puzzle)

Entrants must have an unstatted (Novice/Able) alt at the shipwrightery puzzle.
As soon as the ocean-wide standings of the entrant's alt will go up one level, he/she must send a tell stating the standing achieved (i.e.: "distinguished", "master").
The bake-off lasts 30 minutes.
It can be played anytime Pishkirlin or Acerin are online (further communication of their schedule will be made). If an entrant is not available on that day and owns a labour badge, a personal session can be scheduled between August 29th and September 1st. The new private session must be arranged before the official bake-off, after that no sessions will be scheduled.
1st prize: 750 pts. and a labour badge
2nd prize: 500 pts. and rope coils
3rd prize: 250 pts.
Teams can enter twice the contest (once per pirate) but only the best score will be taken into account.

The Privy Purse - part I BbIE
Winning the bakeoff awards 10 sangreazuls.

August 31st to... completion of the sloop
Labour

2 pts. for each hour of basic labour provided
10 pts. for each hour of skilled labour provided
50 pts. for having taken a job within the stall
[/list]
Teams receive the points scored by each member.

September 1st
Logitics

100 pts. for owning a sloop or a cutter ported at Kasidim
150 pts. for having memmed Kasidim-Caravanserai
150 pts. for having memmed Kasidim-Barbary
50 pts. for owning a house in the Ibis archipelago
100 pts. for being Renowned+ in SW
Teams can't score twice in the same category (if both teammates own a house in the Ibis archipelago, only 50 points will be assigned anyway).

The Privy Purse - part I BbIE
Achieving renowned standings awards 10 sangreazuls.
Each route memmed awards 5 sangreazuls.

At the completion of the sloop
Management

The team with the higher score will be declared winner and its members will be appointed as managers of the stall.

The Privy Purse - part I BbIE
Winning the mission awards 20 sangreazuls (per team).

Prizes

The winners will have full administration powers over the stall. Acerin will still be the holder, since stall deeds can't be traded, but the managers will de facto own the stall.
The opening cost of a shipyard on Kasidim is 35.000 PoE.
At the handover of the stall, its coffer will contain 4 weeks of tax rent at the current rate: 10.860 PoE.
The stall will be stocked with 264 units of wood, 200 units of iron, 300 units of sail cloth, which are the commodities needed to produce 4 sloops. Those goods worth 13.000 PoE.

The overall prize worth therefore almost 50.000 PoE.

The winning team could aslo choose not to keep the stall, withdrawing from the coffer and selling the commodities, cashing out with 23.000 PoE. In that case the Crown will take over the stall buying the goods.

Please post in this thread any question concerning the mission.
No answers will be provided in-game. Thanks for your understanding.

Since Acerin hasn't log yet, we'll post-pone the opening to tomorrow. If he won't log before 10 AM (game time), I'll be the holder of the stall.
We'll start buying commodities at Noon.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Due to the high ocean-wide number of alts providing labour for Shipwrightery, standings go up very slowly, so the length of the bake-off has been extended to 50 minutes.

Final results of the bake-off

Moonknight: Respected in 45 mins.
Enblith: Distinguished in 23 mins.
Leoric: Distinguished in 37 mins.
Piraatmaaike: Distinguished in 50 mins.

Post  Pishkirlin Thu Sep 04, 2008 4:14 am

Piraatmaaike and Leoric are the winners!
Congratulations!

Please see Acerin to be appointed as managers of the stall and communicate him if you choose to keep it or want to sell the goods and cash out.

The Privy Purse - part I BbIE

Beside the material prizes, some of you have acquired blue-blood points (sangreazul), which is a little step you make towards the peerage.

Piraatmaaike: 20*
Leoric: 10
Moonknight: 10

* 10 are pending

Thanks to all those who took part in this first adventure...
... which I'm afraid has not come to an end yet!
