New Year's resolution

Post  Pishkirlin on Thu Jan 01, 2009 3:31 am

My New Year's resolution as a Captain is building up again the crew's skills.

I'm very concerned about the current slackness of the crew. Once the Knights of Saint George used to be an elite force, taking training quite seriously. Our school for officers was the flagship of the crew and there were always excellent puzzlers on any ship that was putting to sea.

I'm committed to take the crew back to the old splendour. To do so I will try to motivate people to improve their skills with any mean.
My goal is to have Renowned as the Officers' lowest standing in the four basic duty puzzles (bilging, sailing, gunning, carpentry), as well as promote to Officer the highest number of active pirates.

We'll build our skills one puzzle at time... we are going to start with the most important one:

I will soon announce a detailed training programme, but since we'll probably start with a quiz on the fundamentals of sailing, you may want in the meantime to read documents about it.

A help from of Blackseagull, Fairylass, Leoric, Rubydeath and Whitepepper as the best sailors and most active forum users, would be very appreciated. If anyone else with very good sailing standings is willing to help, please let me know.

My other question is , How can i get it back to Renowned ?..

Sounds interesting and a good plan, Pish. For me it is not the best time ever, but I think if we want to have the Knights to be an elite crew we have to do work on our skills. When Iīm on the next weeks I will do my best and try te get more on sails, but to get it to renowned....donīt think I can make it to there, the other 3 maybe, but sailing is worst for me.

Excellent new year resolution!

I offer my help on sailing to anyone who needs it. Just let me know, I'll be happy to help.

By the way, I just watched the last video posted on the sailing tutorials forum and it's the one I like the best so far.

It's a great video where the person doesn't just play and talk (which can be confusing), but he shows examples of different things, pauses to explain the moves he will make and why. It's very well done, nicely explained and divided into "sections".

Take a few minutes to watch it. It's very similar to a video I started to make but never finished lol.

Now the Sailing Festival is over, it's time to look ahead... to the Carpentry Training Programme! Yarrr.
And the nominations for the training programme are:

Safebet
Minaa
Piraatmaaike
Rubydeath!
Scrondo
Scatterbrain
Athika
Jimmybucs
Picturesque
Zappira
Verona

The first assignment will be compulsory for the above mentioned, but the list continue:

Bigheady, Briah, Clactuss, Gazette, Mangus, Fairylass, Flyingdutchman and any other pirate below Renowned that will wake up from dormancy before the beginning of the Carpentry Festival (scheduled for February, 14).

I hope Leoric, Jamesstgeorge, Whitepepper and Arcane could assist me as Carpenters.

That's the purpose of the Training Programme!
I think it worked for sailing. I'm quite happy about the results achieved, so I guess we can do a good job for carpentry too.

Awww... I'm very sorry to hear that you won't be able to play any longer. I hope you won't have your pirate purged like it happened last year and I also hope you'll be there for our second anniversary (23rd of April!).

As for the Bilging Festival, it is supposed to start in 5 days. I need a break of two weeks between one festival and another or I'll go mad.

In a couple of days I'm going to post the calendar of the events, though.

Hey, Scobie! First of all, welcome to the forum!
You can still read the threads both in the Knight School and in the Events forum and see what we did in order to improve people stats. I could also give you a couple of assignments in the framework of a custom training programme, If you want.
